Many attend Friday prayers at al-Aqsa despite restrictions
Yesterday, the Al-Aqsa Mosque witnessed a flow of worshippers from Jerusalem neighborhoods and the Palestinian territories inside Israel from the early morning. Despite Israeli authorities imposing restrictions on access due to military checkpoints, which affected the number of worshippers, prayers continued amid ongoing tension. This tension includes settler invasions and attempts to change the status quo of the mosque, along with measures aimed at reducing Palestinian access. The mosque had reopened in April 2026 after being closed for about 40 days, and approximately 100,000 worshippers participated in the first Friday afterward, according to the Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem.
