Archaeological excavations conducted by Yarmouk University at the site of Khirbet Qabala, southwest of the town of Zubeiya in Irbid Governorate, have revealed an integrated grape press carved into the rock dating back to the Byzantine period. In addition, they uncovered graves, tombs, and remains of a small church. It appears that the building was previously used as an olive press before being transformed into a church. Preliminary results confirm the presence of settlement activity during the Roman, Byzantine, and early Islamic eras. The study contributes to documenting Jordanian heritage and developing national expertise in archaeology, with university students actively participating in excavation and documentation processes.
