NATO drills with Tornado fighters
German forces are preparing to participate in NATO nuclear exercises without using live ammunition. The exercises are taking place at Aviano North Air Base in Italy and involve the transfer of three Tornado aircraft from the 33rd Tactical Wing to take part in the "Steadfast Noon" drill. The base provides a level of nuclear involvement by storing American nuclear weapons that can be deployed in emergencies, as there are other bases in Europe designated for storing American nuclear weapons.
