Salfit faces emerging pastoral challenge
Reports indicate that settlers today established a new grazing settlement outpost in Wadi Yasouf east of Saffi t, by setting up tents and caravans. This threatens the agricultural lands and the livelihoods of the local residents. These outposts are used for gradual settlement expansion, aimed at enlarging the "Ariel Block" and imposing control over adjacent lands. They result in restricted access for farmers to their lands and the destruction of agricultural trees, especially olive trees. Settlement plans across the region are intensifying, leading to the isolation of villages and restricting the movement of residents. They continue to threaten further loss of agricultural land and the undermining of livelihoods due to the ongoing expansion of settlements and grazing outposts.
