The program *What Is Hidden Is Greater* aired a documentary about Mohammed Deif, featuring rare recordings, documents and meeting minutes that Al Jazeera said shed light on stages of his career and deliberations preceding the October 7, 2023 attack, including a document dated February 11 of that year. According to the documentary’s account, the investigation reviewed how he survived seven assassination attempts. The Israeli military announced that he was killed in an airstrike in Khan Younis in July 2024, before the Qassam Brigades confirmed his death in January 2025. The documentary presented an account from within the Qassam leadership of preparations for the attack, which left about 1,200 people dead and 251 taken captive, according to Israeli figures. It cautioned, however, that the authenticity of the documents and whether they were presented in full context cannot be verified on the basis of the documentary alone.
