London police arrested 48 protesters who took part in a gathering outside the US embassy in support of Palestine Action and opposing its ban, while similar protests were held in Edinburgh. The demonstrations came ahead of a hearing by the UK Supreme Court next Wednesday and Thursday on a challenge to the decision to ban the group, after the Court of Appeal upheld the ban. The group Defend Our Juries said the number of arrests linked to the campaign since the ban took effect had exceeded 3,900, not including Saturday’s arrests.
