Israeli Democrats party leader Yair Golan warned that Benjamin Netanyahu could exploit a possible new attack on Iran to prolong his time in power, stressing that Israel’s security must not become a tool in his political battle. His warning came amid Israeli and U.S. reports of a possible Israeli-U.S. attack after the midterm elections to Congress, and as fighting with Iran has flared up repeatedly. Golan said Netanyahu lacks the public’s trust, the legitimacy, and the capacity needed to manage such a conflict, while both his bloc and the opposition have failed to secure a majority that would allow them to form a government.
