New Book on Saridiyya
The book *The Sardiyah Tribes in the South of Bilad al-Sham*, by researcher Shalash Umair Eid al-Dubais al-Sardiyah, has been published by Jordan’s Ward Publishing House. It documents the tribes’ history and their relations with the region’s other tribes. The book consists of four chapters covering the history of Hauran and the south of Bilad al-Sham; tracing the history of the Sardiyah between 1500 and 1900; and examining events of the twentieth century, including their participation in the Great Arab Revolt, the Hauran Revolt, and wars against the Zionist enemy. The author aims to address the shortage of comprehensive references on the history of the tribes and their role in Jordan and the south of Bilad al-Sham, and to encourage the documentation of their history for future generations.
