An 11-year-old child was seriously injured on Saturday evening after his foot became trapped in an olive press in Beit Iba, west of Nablus. Nablus Municipality’s fire brigade and the Palestinian Red Crescent managed to free him using hydraulic equipment and take him to hospital in critical condition, amid reports that his foot might have to be amputated. Authorities urged olive mill owners to keep children away from machinery while it is operating, install guards and protective covers, and disconnect the power before cleaning or maintenance.
