Belgian Activist Detained
Belgian police arrested Palestinian-Norwegian activist Omar al-Ma’ani, 37, in Antwerp and detained him for around 15 hours. They also seized his phone and camper van, which he uses as his home during his European tour in support of Gaza. Al-Ma’ani said he was detained because of his political messages. Police, meanwhile, justified impounding the vehicle by saying it had repeatedly been in a residential neighborhood and could cause tension, adding that the administrative seizure could last up to six months.
