Iranian reports said four tankers were destroyed after hitting mines in the Strait of Hormuz. Press TV quoted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as saying the ships had tried to cross the strait along a route that had not been approved by Tehran, while Iran requires vessels to follow a specific route along its coastline. The reports come amid repeated attacks on ships in the strait and the Gulf since the war against Iran broke out in late February.
