Gaza Storm Preparations
Most displacement camps in the Gaza Strip are preparing for the first expected wave of rain, forecast to begin on Friday, by buying tarpaulins, plastic sheeting and supports, and reinforcing their tents. Meanwhile, the United Nations Development Programme distributed sand to displaced people in Al-Attar camp in Khan Younis to help secure tents and prevent water from seeping in. Displaced people warned that their tents could flood and called for winter shelter supplies to be brought in before the rains intensify. The Ministry of Social Development said Gaza urgently needs 200,000 weather-resistant tents and 300,000 shelter kits to assist more than 300,000 families at risk.
