Tanker Hit, Hormuz Fires
The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency announced that an oil tanker had been attacked by two unidentified projectiles in the Arabian Gulf, about 50 nautical miles off the Qatari coast, north of the city of Al Shamal. The damage to the tanker and the safety of its crew were not yet known, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported fires aboard two oil tankers and a tugboat near the Strait of Hormuz. The incidents come amid repeated attacks on commercial vessels in the region’s waterways.
