The Al-Andalus Apiaries project began with a single beehive and, under the leadership of the couple Islam Daghlas and Suhair Barghal, has expanded to around 1,500 hives across areas of the West Bank. It produces several varieties of honey and other products, including nut butter. The project produced around 10 tonnes of honey last year, and its production doubled this year. It has also opened a showroom next to its factory, and its products have won awards at specialist competitions in London. The project relies on online marketing and a sales outlet in Jenin, and is taking part for the second year in a row in the Abu Dhabi Food Exhibition as it prepares to enter the UAE market.
