French presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon pledged at a rally in Bourges to take action to help Palestinians facing the war in Gaza and the gradual annexation of the West Bank if elected president. He said French ships could accompany flotillas of solidarity with the Palestinians if necessary, and reaffirmed his opposition to the annexation of the West Bank, southern Lebanon and the Golan Heights. The French presidential election is scheduled to take place in two rounds, on April 18 and May 2, 2027.
