Supreme Court blocks citizenship revocation
The U.S. Supreme Court rejected an executive order from President Donald Trump that aimed to revoke the right to citizenship by birth in the country. The court confirmed that children born in the United States to undocumented or temporary parents are citizens from birth, clarifying that this right is protected under the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. The court's decision came after Trump’s attempt to restrict the granting of U.S. citizenship to children born to illegal immigrant parents. However, the courts condemned this move as unconstitutional, noting that this is the second time within the year that the court has overturned decisions made by the President's authorities.
