The Iraq Meteorological and Seismic Monitoring Authority announced that 22 earthquakes were recorded during June. These earthquakes were centered in the provinces of Diyala, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, Nineveh, Salahuddin, Erbil, Wasit, and Basra, with magnitudes ranging from 1 to 4.4 on the Richter scale. Iraq is located near active seismic fault lines, making it susceptible to the effects of earthquakes that also impact neighboring Turkey and Iran, especially in the eastern and northern regions.
