Gaza Health: 10,000 Injured, 5,000 Amputees
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has warned of the collapse of the medical rehabilitation system following the Israeli aggression that resulted in over 175,000 Palestinians injured, including a large number of children, women, and the elderly. It confirmed that the assault has caused an unprecedented health catastrophe, with approximately 5,000 cases of limb amputations recorded, in addition to 300 neurological and spinal injuries. More than 10,000 individuals are in need of intensive and long-term medical rehabilitation. The ministry pointed out that the occupation targeted health facilities, causing rehabilitation centers to cease operations, which endangers patients and the injured and increases the risk of complications due to a severe shortage of medical supplies, devices, and prosthetics. Travel for treatment outside the sector is also restricted for the wounded. The ministry called on international organizations to intervene immediately to provide the necessary supplies and equipment and to open crossing points to facilitate the travel of critical cases and access to advanced limb transplantation techniques.
