The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, expressed deep concern over the escalation of Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon, especially in Nabatieh, and the resulting civilian casualties and the displacement of approximately 20,000 people from the Nabatieh area over the past week. He called on Israel to immediately cease its hostilities and withdraw its forces from Lebanese territory, emphasizing the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid. It is worth noting that the Israeli escalation continues to put pressure on the region despite the ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States in June.
