Turkey has announced the imminent start of exploratory oil drilling in the western Black Sea as part of a broader plan to search for new oil and natural gas resources. The drilling operations, which will be conducted within a campaign involving six dedicated wells in different areas of the Black Sea during 2026, aim to increase domestic production and reduce reliance on imports. Additionally, Turkey continues to develop its nuclear energy sector with international partners, planning to establish two more nuclear power plants in Sinop and Trakya, with the goal of boosting nuclear capacity to 20,000 megawatts by 2050, alongside the Russian Akkuyu plant project.
