The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency unanimously removed the "Non-Compliance" issue from Syria, which is considered a significant step in fulfilling its response to its nuclear obligations. The Board also closed the related case after Syria's failure to comply, commending the cooperation demonstrated by the new Syrian authorities, particularly in allowing Agency inspectors to access key nuclear sites. Syria regarded this decision as a reflection of the success of its diplomatic efforts and as an affirmation of its right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, serving sectors such as medicine, agriculture, and research, while ending the use of the nuclear issue as a tool of political pressure and lifting restrictions or sanctions imposed on the country.
