Qatar Museums to Promote Antiquities Awareness at Suhail 2026

The Department of Antiquities participated for the first time in Qatar Museums' participation in the Qatari International Hunting and Falconry Exhibition "Souhail 2026," aiming to raise awareness about the protection and preservation of antiquities within the Qatar Heritage Festival activities. The participation focused on introducing visitors to archaeological research efforts and raising community awareness of the importance of safeguarding archaeological sites as part of national identity and shared memory. Initiatives included dedicated activities for children and a signing wall to promote responsibility for heritage protection, along with guidelines on how to avoid vandalism and harmful behaviors at sites, such as unregulated camping and writing on historical monuments. Officials emphasized the importance of community involvement in protecting antiquities, especially the younger generation, who are the primary focus of this initiative. They pointed out that most improper behaviors are due to a lack of awareness or recklessness, urging adherence to designated pathways and avoiding climbing fragile structures. The exhibition will continue until next Saturday, with the goal of enhancing awareness about the significance of national heritage and engaging the public in its preservation.
