Global Alliance for South-South Cooperation
The United Nations has launched a global alliance for South-South cooperation and triangular cooperation, aimed at strengthening partnerships and exchanging development solutions and expertise among developing countries, with support from international institutions and financial organizations. This alliance seeks to expand funding sources and achieve sustainable development through innovative projects in areas such as energy, water, agriculture, technology, and food security. It emphasizes empowering Southern countries to position themselves as sources of solutions rather than mere recipients, leveraging their expertise and investments to enhance economic resilience and achieve international development goals. Its launch comes at a time when funding resources are declining and challenges related to food, energy, and climate debts are intensifying. The initiative aims to generate tangible impact through sustainable and scalable projects after initial funding ends, thereby fostering genuine cooperation among developing nations and reducing dependence on the Global North.
