Iraq and Turkey have reached the final draft of the general agreement for implementing infrastructure projects and developing the transportation sector, following four days of discussions in Baghdad attended by officials from the ministries and the central bank of both countries. The agreement aims to organize the procedures for implementing the "Development Road" project, which includes constructing a railway line and a highway extending approximately 1,200 kilometers at an estimated cost of around $17 billion. The project intends to connect the Basra Port with the Turkish border, as part of a plan to enhance trade and transportation between the Gulf and Europe via Iraqi territory. It is expected that the project's phases will be completed in the years 2028, 2033, and 2050, following the official approvals from both governments.
