Palestinian Council Opposes Al-Aqsa Moves
The Palestinian National Council has affirmed that the rising calls to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque during Jewish holidays, impose religious rituals inside it, and promote plans to establish a "Third Temple" on its ruins represent a serious escalation aimed at imposing a religious and sovereignty reality by force. It clarified that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a unified spatial and doctrinal entity that cannot be divided, and any tampering with its historical status or imposing foreign rituals on it constitutes a violation of religious freedom and international laws. The council warned that turning Al-Aqsa into a battleground for religious conflict and implementing plans to demolish it and build the alleged Temple will increase tensions and threaten regional and international peace. It holds the Israeli government responsible and calls on the international community to take immediate measures to stop invasions and assaults on the site. Since the beginning of the year, more than 40,000 settlers have stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in an escalation aimed at restricting Palestinian presence and expanding the influence of settlers, as part of an aggressive policy intended to change the legal and historical status of Jerusalem.
