ESA completes Italian Earth observation satellite array
The European Space Agency announced the completion of the Italian satellite constellation "Eaglet II," part of the "IRIDE" Earth observation program, following the launch of the final batch of eight satellites. This brings the total number of satellites to 24, with the overall in-orbit count reaching 39. The satellites were launched aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Base in California, aiming to provide data for environmental monitoring and emergency management through a system that includes multispectral sensor-equipped satellites and an automatic identification system to support maritime surveillance and safety.
