The Qur’anic Botanic Garden, in collaboration with Doha Design District, part of Msheireb Properties, has launched three new gardens near Al Wadi Mosque in Msheireb Downtown Doha. The gardens feature more than 14 plant species mentioned in the Holy Qur’an or the Prophetic Sunnah, or associated with the environment of the Arabian Peninsula. These include date palms, olive trees, figs, pomegranates, sidr, arak and citron. Each plant is accompanied by an information plaque displaying its scientific name, natural habitat, and environmental, cultural and religious details. Launched in conjunction with Qatar Sustainability Week, the initiative aims to incorporate botanical heritage into urban spaces, raise environmental awareness, encourage community learning and help conserve plant diversity.
