Ex-South Korean president gets 30 years in murder case
A South Korean court sentenced former President Yoon Suk-yeol to 30 years in prison on charges related to directing military drones over North Korea to justify declaring a state of emergency in December 2024. The court convicted him of "assisting the enemy and abuse of power," considering that he was planning an incursion in October 2024, while Yoon denied any wrongdoing. This verdict is part of a series of judgments against Yoon, who was previously convicted of insurrection before the judiciary, and his sentence was later increased to life imprisonment.
