UN confirms ongoing Ebola spread in Congo
The United Nations confirms the ongoing outbreak of Ebola in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, with daily cases reported in new areas, and predicts an increase in infections among children in the coming days. So far, authorities have recorded 676 cases and 136 deaths attributed to the "Bundibugyo" strain, with the situation worsening for young people due to malnutrition and a lack of vaccination. UN coordinators are working to deploy health teams and raise awareness within communities to prevent the further spread of the disease.
