The Sudanese army has made territorial advances in North Kordofan state, with joint forces announcing the expulsion of Rapid Support Forces from areas surrounding the city of Barra as part of operations to regain control of the region. The Governor of Darfur confirmed that these victories mark the beginning of a new phase of decisive action in the ongoing conflict, which has continued since April 2023 and involves persistent battles over key strategic areas linking Darfur to the capital, Khartoum, and the eastern states. Meanwhile, the Rapid Support Forces have intensified their drone attacks, resulting in the death of over 16 civilians and injuries to dozens more, in addition to property destruction. Fighting and clashes continue in the affected areas amid a wide-scale humanitarian catastrophe caused by the ongoing conflict.
