Writing Amid Ideological Clashes
The article focuses on the phenomenon of mythologizing history and folk traditions, where a society's features and history are reduced and frozen into simple, appealing iconic images such as traditional dance or legends, often for promotion or ideological use. The author warns that this technique conceals the genuine social and political struggles and transformations that shaped the society, turning history into a tool for ideological conflicts rather than a subject for scholarly research and objective critique. He explains that reliance on folkloric images tends to romanticize societies excessively, transforming heritage into a weapon used in ideological struggles instead of serving as a true reference for understanding societal development. Particularly in a critical context, the article critiques the exaggerations found in analyses based on scenes and examples that lack accuracy, such as comparing artistic expressions in Kurdistan and Abha. The reality, however, reveals a complex and rich history that reflects profound transformations.
