Oman Proposes Strait of Hormuz Management Mechanism
The Omani proposal presented a new framework for managing the Strait of Hormuz based on a regional mechanism with voluntary fees, aiming to enhance security and stability in the region. The proposal includes establishing a regional authority to oversee transit and activities in the strait, with participating countries voluntarily contributing fees to promote cooperation and protect the interests of all parties in the vital waterway. This approach seeks to reduce tensions and increase transparency among stakeholders, while supporting the efforts of the United Nations and international organizations to ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
