Gulf nations review Strait of Hormuz navigation
The Gulf Cooperation Council foreign ministers held an online meeting to discuss current developments and ongoing negotiations, with a focus on enhancing coordination regarding the protection of freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. They agreed to intensify consultations to ensure the rights of the coastal states to pass ships and conduct trade in accordance with international law, emphasizing the importance of political and diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and achieve regional stability. Additionally, the member states supported Oman’s plan to give Iran an opportunity to collect voluntary transit fees through the strait, aiming to end disruptions in oil trade caused by tensions in the region.
