The United States has issued a new round of sanctions targeting eight vessels and ten entities connected to Iran, aimed at reducing Tehran's oil revenues and preventing terrorism financing. The sanctions include two companies, "Persian Gulf Marine Insurance Company" and "HormuzSafe Marine Services Authority," which manage a maritime insurance system requiring ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz to purchase insurance documents for a fee. This system is considered a means of extorting ships and providing funding to the Revolutionary Guards. Sanctions have also been imposed on companies that manage and operate the ships, most of which are registered in Hong Kong and China, transporting millions of barrels of Iranian oil to China and the UAE over the past two years. These measures are part of the "maximum pressure" policy aimed at reducing Iran's influence in maritime trade and preventing its use to fund terrorist activities.
