Authentic or superficial elections
The article focuses on the importance of ensuring that the election of the Saudi Football Federation president is genuine and transparent, not merely a formality. The writer highlights the nominations of candidates who possess extensive sports experience and emphasizes that the current phase requires leadership with deep knowledge of the game, rather than just individuals seeking fame. He stresses that the success of the upcoming federation should be measured by its ability to safeguard and develop the significant national achievements made so far, rather than relying on unfair or predetermined results. The article raises concerns that the elections may be merely a ceremonial procedure, where voters have no real influence, potentially leading to decisions being made by a predetermined entity that does not reflect the true will of the people in choosing their leaders. Finally, it questions the level of awareness within the sports community regarding the concept of genuine elections and whether they will provide equitable opportunities for all candidates or remain just a superficial performance that perpetuates an unfair system.
