Professional selfishness undermines organizations
Professional selfishness is an hidden behavior that threatens the work environment, manifesting in knowledge hoarding, diminishing the achievements of others, or hindering personal initiatives. This affects trust and collaboration within organizations. Such a phenomenon leads to decreased motivation, increased turnover rates, and higher costs for recruiting and training new expertise. It also weakens innovation and organizational loyalty. The solution starts with leadership by building an organizational culture that encourages cooperation, implementing performance evaluations based on knowledge sharing, promoting transparency and fairness, and training leaders to identify negative behaviors. Additionally, establishing channels for employee feedback to measure trust and satisfaction is recommended to ensure the sustainability and long-term success of organizations.
