The new regulations announced by the General Transport Authority specify that the deadline for issuing licenses for commercial transportation of goods using motorized bikes will be the end of July 2028. The regulations impose strict restrictions regarding the age of the bikes, which must not exceed 4 years from the year of manufacture. They also require one Saudi supervisor for every 50 bikes and prohibit freelance work for individuals, limiting operations to companies and institutions only. Additionally, the conditions include installing a non-movable rear box, tinted glass, and a phone holder. A professional driver’s card is also required, which includes passing a competence test and possessing a clean criminal record certificate. These measures aim to regulate the market, ensure safety, and protect consumers through strict technical and professional standards.
