The General Authority of Transport in Saudi Arabia has approved an executive regulation to organize the activity of transporting goods via motorbikes for commercial purposes. The goal is to improve service quality, enhance safety and security, and stimulate investment in the sector. The regulation requires each establishment to hold an independent annual license, and mandates obtaining a professional driver’s card, security and medical certificates, as well as issuing a driving permit for the motorbike, all in compliance with safety standards and technical inspections. It also obligates the registration of drivers and bikes on the Authority’s platform and the provision of protection and safety measures for the goods. Violators will face penalties, including fines and legal measures, in an effort to elevate the sector’s standards and ensure the protection of the rights of all parties involved.
