First Division League Begins Friday
On Friday, the matches of the Saudi First Division League for the 2026-2027 season kicked off after a period of preparation and anticipation. The competition features clubs promoted from the Second Division—Al-Saqr, Al-Jél, and Hajer—as well as teams relegated from the Saudi Pro League last season—Damac, Al-Ukhdood, and Al-Najma. Many clubs aim to compete for the top spot and achieve promotion to the Pro League, especially with the strengthened squads of Al-Orobah, Al-Wahda, and Al-Jabalain, who advanced to the Round of 16 in the King Fahd Cup and are eager to capitalize on this positive momentum. The opening round includes some intense matchups, such as Jél versus Zulfiy, Al-Wahda versus Al-Adalah, and Al-Najma versus Al-Jandal, with a focus on starting strong to reach their desired goals. Meanwhile, clubs like Al-Ula and Jableh are looking to restore their status after disappointing seasons last year.
