Saudi Arabia intends to strengthen its energy system by signing four agreements for energy storage projects using battery technology, with a total capacity of 2,000 megawatts for 4 hours, costing over 4.35 billion riyals (approximately 1.16 billion dollars). The projects will cover regions including Mecca, Hail, and Al-Qassim, aiming to increase the share of renewable energy to around 50% by 2030. This initiative seeks to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the power grid, support energy supply security, and improve its operational resilience.
