Pharmaceutical Firms Fined 1.5M Riyals
The General Authority for Food and Drug announced fines totaling 1.58 million Riyals imposed on 17 pharmaceutical establishments during May to July 2026 for non-compliance with the electronic tracking system "Rasd." The violations included failure to report drug movements, insufficient stock availability, failure to report anticipated shortages six months in advance, and not providing medications before they run out. The "Rasd" system aims to track medicines from the manufacturer to the consumer to enhance drug safety and prevent counterfeiting, with the possibility of imposing penalties of up to 5 million Riyals and temporarily closing the facility.
