Iran finds over 200 bcm of gas

Iran has announced the discovery of new natural gas reserves exceeding 200 billion cubic meters in the southern part of the country, with more than 160 billion cubic meters being extractable. The find is located in the southern province of Fars, and the gas is classified as sweet natural gas due to its low levels of hydrogen sulfide, which reduces the costs of developing and operating the field. It will take several years to begin production, amid difficult conditions in Iran’s energy sector due to the damages caused by attacks on Iranian energy facilities since the start of the regional war.
