Property owners worry about subleasing
The article focuses on the concerns of property owners in Jeddah regarding the illegal use of the subleasing option through the "Ejar" platform. It explains that tenants rent residential units through official contracts and then sublease them to others without the owner's approval, often leaving the country after receiving the rental payments. The article highlights that the "Ejar" platform allows pre-approval registration by owners for subleasing, but some tenants exploit the system unlawfully, exposing owners to financial losses and making it difficult to track the actual tenants. Experts and property owners emphasize the need to strengthen regulations and procedures to prevent these violations, safeguard owners' rights, including imposing penalties on violators, and stress the importance of electronic contract documentation and understanding contractual terms clearly before signing to reduce disputes.
