Zelensky opposes wartime elections
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected holding elections during the war with Russia, considering it a significant danger that would threaten the country's unity, especially given the current imposition of martial law. He explained that conducting elections under wartime conditions is like a tsunami sweeping through the ranks, and that attempting to organize them could lead to the destruction of the country. This comes amid increasing political pressure, as former Defense Minister called for elections without a clear roadmap, which was met with some supporters distancing themselves from him. On the other hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Ukraine relies on a neo-Nazi ideology as the foundation of its policies, viewing this as a primary reason for Russia's special military operation against Ukraine.
