Eastern Province promotes waste-to-value investments
The Eastern Province Municipality has launched a variety of investment opportunities aimed at transforming waste into resources with economic and environmental value, focusing on supporting the circular economy. These opportunities include projects for processing slaughterhouse waste, recycling construction and demolition debris, waste sorting, as well as initiatives related to the recycling of organic waste, used oils, tires, electronic waste, and batteries. Among the initiatives are utilizing methane gas from Dammam landfills to produce biofuel and green hydrogen, converting construction and demolition waste into asphalt materials and building supplies, and processing slaughterhouse waste with a capacity of up to 30,000 tons annually over an area of 10,000 square meters. These projects aim to reduce illegal dumping, promote sustainability, and turn waste into energy sources and economic assets, thereby supporting the circular economy concept, preserving the environment, and enhancing the quality of life.
