The Russian space agency "Roscosmos" plans to establish a permanent autonomous lunar base after 2036 as part of a national project aimed at developing space technologies and exploring the Moon and deep space. Currently, efforts are focused on identifying the most suitable location for the base and securing a continuous power source, along with developing a nuclear rocket engine and life support systems. The goal is to launch three spacecraft to the Moon by 2036 to establish a nuclear power station and an electricity generation facility. These plans come amid the rising costs of transporting payloads to the Moon compared to the International Space Station, prompting the development of more efficient and lightweight technologies.
