Jazan shrimp season boosts sustainability

The shrimp fishing season in Jizan has begun, lasting seven months from September 1st to the end of March 2027. More than 120 fishing vessels are participating in this season. The goal is to promote the sustainability of marine fisheries and support food security by producing approximately 953 tons of wild-caught shrimp, in addition to 2,234 tons of farmed shrimp. All necessary regulatory procedures and licensing have been put in place to ensure the preservation of fishery resources, with an emphasis on adherence to regulations to guarantee the sustainability of the fish stock and prevent violations. This season reflects the efforts of the relevant authorities to maintain environmental balance and strengthen the local economy in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
