Drivers advised not to overtake school buses in specific cases
The General Directorate of Traffic in Saudi Arabia has emphasized the importance of stopping when school buses are parked for students to board or alight, and not attempting to overtake them from any direction during that time. They stressed the importance of obeying the "Stop" signal on the bus and ensuring the completion of boarding or alighting before moving. Additionally, drivers should maintain a safe distance behind the bus when it is stopped. Traffic authorities also urged increased alertness as vehicles approach buses, especially in areas around schools, where student and pedestrian activity is expected to increase. Reducing speed and being prepared to stop can help prevent accidents and ensure the safety of students.
