Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed that Israeli forces will not withdraw from the Gaza Strip and that they currently control about 60% of the area with the aim of turning it into a demilitarized zone, a stance that conflicts with international demands for ending the occupation and political resolution. He also revealed the arrest of the head of internal security for Hamas, Muneer al-Arabid, to benefit from information obtained during interrogation. Military operations continue, and Israel promises a strong response to any gunfire from Gaza, while Hamas has called for an end to violations. In the West Bank, several buildings were demolished and Palestinians detained, while settlers engaged in acts of violence against Palestinian property. France and the European Union are calling for a ban on trade with Israeli settlements in accordance with international law.
