Sources report that Saudi Aramco is considering selling its specialty chemicals business, Arlanxeo, which produces synthetic rubber and plastics used in products such as tires, golf balls, and footwear. The company is working with a consultant to identify potential buyers. It is noted that Aramco fully acquired Arlanxeo in 2018 for $1.75 billion, at a time when the company is seeking to sell assets valued at up to $35 billion to boost liquidity and support its investment initiatives. This move comes amid challenges in the global chemicals market, including weak demand and rising costs. The decision to sell remains under review, with the possibility of a full or partial sale of the assets as part of Aramco’s strategy to rebalance expansion efforts and enhance liquidity.
